As summer comes to a close, the National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) is celebrating the American workforce, including the more than 3,000 beer distributors that are bringing fresh, ice-cold beer to retail establishments nationwide. The men and women of the beer distribution industry will be working round-the-clock leading up to and on Labor Day to ensure shelves and taps are stocked with a tremendous variety of beer.

“Beer distributors and their employees are some of the hardest working, most dedicated individuals in America,” said NBWA President Craig Purser. “These Main Street businesses make both economic and philanthropic contributions that are felt in every community across the country. And with Labor Day being the third-largest beer occasion of the year, distributors will be working on overdrive to guarantee America has access to a variety of their favorite brews to close out the summer.”

America’s more than 3,000 beer distributors deliver fresh beer to more than 640,000 retailers nationwide. According to the recent Beer Serves America economic report, these family-owned businesses employ more than 141,000 Americans and pay $9.5 billion in wages. Additionally, the beer industry contributes $328 billion to the U.S. economy each year. From truck drivers and warehouse employees to brand managers, sales teams and marketing professionals, the roles within the beer distribution industry are diverse.

“Thanks to the seamless and efficient system of alcohol delivery and sale, the U.S. beer industry is producing more variety than ever and creating good-paying, career-track jobs in hometowns across America,” said Purser. “This Labor Day, and every day, we are proud to represent the more than 141,000 employees who make up the vibrant beer distribution industry. We raise a glass to these hardworking men and women who make it possible for us to celebrate Labor Day with a cold beer.”

NBWA encourages those celebrating Labor Day to do so responsibly. For more information about beer distributor’s economic footprint in each state, please visit www.DeliveringLocalJobs.com.
