In Latest Salvo Against Alcohol, WHO Urges Countries to Increase Taxes by 50%

The World Health Organization is pushing countries to raise the prices of sugary drinks, alcohol and tobacco by 50% over the next 10 years through taxation. The new “3 by 35” initiative comes at a time of turmoil for the organization, which is facing a $600M budget deficit as the United States (which did not attend the initiative announcement) plans its exit.
