House Oversight Chairman: Unauthorized Release of Biased Alcohol Study Should Be Investigated
In a letter to HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Chairman James Comer raised concerns that members of a scientific review panel violated their federal contracts by publishing the results of a flawed alcohol health study that was originally intended to inform the Dietary Guidelines (DGA).
Chairman Comer reiterated bipartisan concerns with the DGA development process, writing, “Not only was [this study] biased and predetermined, but it was also wastefully duplicative of a study already being conducted by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) at the direction of Congress.”
