Data From a Big Super Bowl for the Beer Industry
Big Game? Dud.
Big Winner? Suds.
While folks outside of the Delaware Valley may have been looking for the remote by halftime, the beer industry saw one of its biggest days deliver the goods. Some stats from America’s top sporting holiday:
Five Beer Ads in Ad Meter Top-20
- The overall top commercial per the USA Today Ad Meter was Budweiser’s “First Delivery” – the brand’s first no. 1 ranking since 2015 and 8th overall
- Anheuser-Busch had a big night as Michelob Ultra (#3), Stella Artois (#4) and Bud Light (#8) all appeared in the top-10
- Coors Light finished in the top-20 with its “Slow Monday” commercial and extended the buzz through a partnership with Peloton, hosting day-after fitness classes
Lombardi Party Soaked With Beer
- Eagles running back Saquon Barkley and his teammates celebrated their big win by downing beers in the locker room and on the Tonight Show
- Philadelphia was ready to join the action – the city’s draft volume was up 33.4% on Super Bowl Sunday, led by a +15.6% jump for leading brand Miller Lite (34.3% volume share)
- Total Wine & More reported that three of the top-five brands sold in Philadelphia-area stores were beer (Miller, Corona, Coors)
Sales Data Shows Brand Jumps
- Fintech data shows that beer continues to buoy participating cities, with consistent increases in beer purchases during the week before Super Bowl weekend:
- AFC Champion City – 18%
- NFC Champion City – 8%
- Host City – 11%
- GoPuff’s Annual Brand Bowl Report showed Bud Light with the 5th highest increase (80%) in purchases on the platform in the hour after its commercial ran
- Miller Lite was one of GoPuff’s top trending items for the entire day, with orders up 101%
- Some notable results for BeerBoard’s 2025 nationwide on-premise report:
- Light Lagers led the beer category with 5.6% draft volume increase from 2024 and was the overall number-one packaged style
- Four of the top-five pour brands saw jumps – Michelob Ultra (11.9%), Miller Lite (5.4%), Modelo Especial (9.6%) and Coors Light (3.4%)
- Busch Light helped Kansas Citians wash down the tough loss – draft volume was up 145%
