VA: Brewery races to save beer after power outages
Port City Brewing in Alexandria, Virginia, has thousands of gallons of craft brew fermenting in a tank that can't be chilled because of storm-caused power outages. "If we have to drop the tank, it's about $20,000," brewery owner Bill Butcher said. "As a start-up business, every dollar in sales is critical. We don't have any margin for error. This is a crisis situation." As of July 3, the brewery obtained a generator to chill the brew and serve it to guests in the summer heat.
