ALEXANDRIA, VA – National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Kim McKinnish has been named the 2012 Nonprofit Transformational Leader in the Association TRENDS Nonprofit CFO Awards. Association TRENDS is the national newspaper for association executives and suppliers, spotlighting the latest news, information and trends in association management for the professional staff of international, national, state, regional and local voluntary organizations.

The Transformational Leader award recognizes an outstanding CFO of a nonprofit who has played a major role in the transformation of the operations of their nonprofit – not only in the financial department but also in broader operational areas, such as pioneering a significant major program, developing and implementing a technological breakthrough, or engineering a reorganization or merger.

“Kim’s contributions to the Association’s fiscal performance and her guidance as an effective manager has resulted in major improvement in the organization’s overall operations,” said NBWA President & CEO Craig Purser.  “Her 20 years of experience working for two NBWA member companies has equipped her with valuable insights that have enabled NBWA to dramatically enhance its member service offerings.”

McKinnish previously served as Vice President and CFO of King Wholesale, Inc., located in Chantilly, Virginia, and Superior Beverages, Inc. of Washington, D.C.  Additionally, McKinnish has management and finance experience in the technology segment and with a public accounting firm.

Since joining NBWA in 2009, she has revamped the budget process, negotiated a comparable health insurance contract that saved the Association money, generated new member services including a multi-component HR services program and custom-designed insurance plans, and is now leading a task force to enhance non-dues revenue.

Aside from being a valued leader and mentor at NBWA, McKinnish participates in The Center for Association Leadership and the American Institute of CPAs.  She is active in her community as a Girl Scout troop leader and as Treasurer and Board member of Helping Children Worldwide, Inc., a local charity with international and domestic components.

McKinnish was honored along with two other association professionals, CFO of the Year Stan Berman of Global Impact and Rising Star Jason Daisy of Associated Builders and Contractors, at the CFO of the Year Luncheon in Washington, D.C.
