Notable Public Relations Industry Publication Recognizes Communications Tool

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) Web site – www.nbwa.org – has been named the winning Web site in PR News’ Nonprofit PR Awards competition.  The honor was presented this week at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., and announced in PR News’ Nonprofit PR Issue, which can be viewed at:  http://www.prnewsonline.com/awards/nonprofit2009-winners.html.

NBWA’s new Web site was re-launched in 2008 and is a powerful communications, educational and marketing tool.  Laid out on a beer background and with countless vivid images of the beer distribution industry, www.nbwa.org highlights the effectiveness of today’s state-based alcohol regulation system and the important contributions America’s 2,850 licensed, independent beer distributors make every day across the country – in every state, congressional district and media market.

The site appeals to a diverse audience and offers a wide range of content including high-energy educational videos demonstrating what a beer distributor does each day; colorful photographs showing inside a beer distribution warehouse; poignant public service announcements that fight underage drinking and drunk driving; a daily news scroll; social media links; services for America’s beer distributors; and delicious “cooking with beer” recipes that highlight the wide variety of beer made available across the country – nearly 13,000 different labels of beer, which is the most anywhere in the world.

“America’s beer distributors are the face of the American beer industry.  That’s why NBWA works diligently to ensure that visitors get a real flavor for the hard work the 95,000 American beer distribution employees do every day.  It’s also our hope that visitors get a better understanding of the important role that state-based alcohol regulation plays in making certain that communities and citizens stay safe while enjoying beer responsibly,” said NBWA President Craig Purser.  “Through videos, audio PSAs, social media, brochures and other collaterals, we hope visitors to the NBWA Web site will learn something new and enjoy learning about beer distributors and today’s system of alcohol regulation.  Congratulations to NBWA’s Vice President, Public Affairs Rebecca Spicer and the entire team at NBWA for producing such a powerful and dynamic Web site.”

The two additional finalists in the Web site category of PR News’ Nonprofit PR Awards who received honorable mentions were Defense Media Activity’s “Wounded Warriors Diaries” and the King County Library System’s “Look to Your Library” site.
